About Course

If you are a therapist searching for a solution to the nightmare of your client’s addictions or any “Unwanted Behaviours” and continuing relapses –the Brainspotting Crocodile Set-Ups, along with The Crocodile metaphor to externalize the Addiction, may be the answer you’ve been seeking…

Regain Freedom from The Behaviour

Dr. Roby Abeles developed a very simple way to use Brainspotting Therapy to support those who have addictions to stop relapsing. Since then she has taught it in over 8 countries with many more added once the training went online.

Feedback from therapists trained in the work was that these 2 simple setups were also effective with many other “Behaviours” other than addictions. So, as Roby has continued to develop this work, she now prefers to refer to “The Behaviour”, rather than “The Addiction” as it is more comprehensive, more compassionate, less pathologising, and highlights its use in diverse client populations outside of those in the addiction field.

Dr. Roby called it the Brainspotting “Crocodile Set-Ups” because it is based on Narrative Therapy’s use of externalizing the problem which is at the core of this training. The origin of the “Crocodile” metaphor will be explained.

The Brainspotting & Addictions training with the 2 Crocodile Set-Ups will introduce participants to the enormously successful “Brainspotting Crocodile Set-Ups” (a Double Spot + Single Expansion Spot) to help their addicted (and other clients ‘stuck’ in unwanted behaviours) to stop urges & cravings quickly, through brain changes, and then imagine their future free of the addiction.

This gives the client a big advantage in achieving Freedom from The Behaviour. {Roby uses that language instead of “recovery”}

I have a long history of working in addiction medicine and was so excited to attend a bsp training that focused on this particular demographic. I loved that the facilitators had personal experience in both their own lives and in working with this population. The education from this training and the specific set-up will help so much in my work.
